Robert Tienor

November 19, 1941 — January 31, 2013

Robert (Bob) Tienor, Schertz, TX passed away with his family by his side on January 31, 2013, after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. He was born November 19, 1941 to Emil and Florence Tienor in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. He served in the United States Air Force for 22 years and taught Industrial Technology in the Judson ISD for 22 years. We lost our hero but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his loving wife, Ruth Tienor and children, Jennifer Madrid (Jaime) and Jeffrey Tienor (Chrissy) and his beloved grandchildren Abigail, Luke, and Mia Madrid and Nicolas, Aaron, and Jacob Tienor. Bob and Ruth met in high school in Brillion, Wisconsin and became lifelong sweethearts. They were good friends, a formidable team and true lifetime partners as they celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on December 30th. Bobs family was important to him and he loved helping the children and grandchildren. They will cherish the memories he left including individual letters he wrote to each grandchild while in the hospital. He will be missed by his sisters Pat Walter (John), Barbara Apostolou (George), and brother Steve Tienor (Maddie), and by his sisters-in-law, Cindy Tienor, Joyce Bergelin, Lois Olesen (Bob) and brother-in-law Bob Bergelin and other loving family members. Although he was a quiet man, when he said something it was important and he had a smile that would light up the room. He was a very sincere, caring, giving and strong person and always looked out for family and friends. He seemed to know when to offer help. He possessed wisdom, kindness and acceptance of others that was rare. He enriched the lives of all he met. Bob was dedicated to being an active member of Cross Lutheran Church, New Braunfels where he served on various committees, three building programs, as church secretary for four years, as an elder for twenty years, sang in the sanctuary choir, played in one of the bell choirs and as a trustee of the VFW Post 8315. Bob and Ruths home is full of his creations. When Ruth wanted something new (even an outhouse in the backyard) she would draw the sketch and he would do the construction. He volunteered in community activities actively constructing the original playscape on Schertz Parkway and helping build the first two libraries in Schertz. A viewing will be held at the Schertz Funeral Home at 2217 F.M. 3009 on Sunday, February 3rd from 4-8 P.M. Funeral services will take place at Cross Lutheran Church, 2171 E. Common Street, New Braunfels, TX at 11 A.M. on Monday, February 4th. Burial will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:45 P.M. on Wednesday, February 13th. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Veterans Memorial Plaza (in Schertz) or to the building fund at Cross Lutheran Church (New Braunfels).
