Robert Scott

Major Robert Walter Scott, U.S. Air Force, retired, age 71, very peacefully passed away on July 29th 2009, following a short illness. Robert was born to Clarence Walter and Mary Ellen Scott on April 6, 1938 in Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania. He entered the Air Force right out of high school and served over 26 years, working first in aircraft maintenance and then in the early days of missiles at Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg A.F.B. In 1964 he was accepted into the Airmans Education and Commissioning program. He spent two years at Arizona State University, completing a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and then was commissioned. He went on to earn a Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering and spent the rest of his Air Force career working in Base Procurement at Kelly AFB., Torrejon AB, Spain, Pease AFB, Fort Sam Houston and finally, Randolph AFB. After retiring from military service, he worked as Project Manager for Drury Southwest. For the last few years he has spent hours researching his ancestry and working very hard with the Homes for the Homeless animal advocate group and the City of Universal City to build a new and adequate facility, which opened last year. He also was a very dedicated Freemason. He was a member of Randolph Masonic Lodge No.1268 and was installed as the Master of that Lodge on June 27, 2009. He was a loving husband and father and a good friend and source of help and information to many. His logical, brilliant mind was intact to the end. He also did a lot of traveling in the past 8 years and saw a good portion of the world. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elenore Scott of Universal City, Texas; daughter, Carole Scott of Los Angeles, California; son James Scott of San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Alice Turpack of Transfer Pennsylvania, Ginger Wiskerchen of Cape Coral, Florida, Bonnie Hall of Harrisville, Pennsylvania; brothers William Scott of Piney Point, Maryland and Jack Gurney of Scottsdale, Arizona, numerous nieces and nephews, Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio Texas with full military honors and Masonic Services.
