Robert Schanzer

February 2, 1951 — June 1, 2015

Dr. Robert "Bob" B. Schanzer, Colonel, United States Army, Retired, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2015, at his home in Garden Ridge, TX after a 13 year battle with cancer. Bob was born in Camden, NJ, February 2, 1951, to Stephan and Kay Schanzer. He graduated from Frankfurt (Germany) High School in 1969 and then attended University of Kansas and University of Texas in Austin. He graduated from UT Dental School San Antonio in 1979. He then spent many years traveling the world as an Army Dentist. Bob loved the outdoors, riding his Harley, antiquing, gardening, and traveling. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his wife, Carol Karabanowski, daughters, Debbie Hull (Rick), Laura Brinkley (Jeff), sons, Christopher and Jeffrey Schanzer, grandchildren, Courtney Roshanmanesh (Jacob), Josh Hull (Katie), Brandon Hull, Justin and Jordan Brinkley, great grandchild, Emma, brother, Michael Schanzer, and sister, Linda Cover (Ed). A Memorial Service, including United States Army Honors, will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015, 11:00am, at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. Family will start receiving friends and family at 10:00. All services will conclude in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
