Robert Adkins
April 19, 1943 — April 19, 2011
Bob Adkins was born, Robert Lester Adkins, in the city of Holland, Michigan on April 19th, 1943. His journey through life touched, inspired, educated and saved so many of those that were blessed to meet and know him. Bob had a servants heart that led him to make Jesus and the church the center of his world. Bob was part of the Migrant Ministry, in Michigan for seven years, where he met the love of his life, Maria, who would become his wife of 48 years. Bob served in the U.S. Air Force, for a short time and was honorably discharged. He and Maria traveled and lived in different parts of the United States, where Bob worked in his career as an electrician and later, as a computer controls technician. Bob and Maria settled in San Antonio, Texas, where they made a home and raised their two daughters Lydia and Leticia and their son, Rob. Bobs dedication to his Christianity, led him to always be lending his skill and knowledge to the churches he was a member of. He raised his family in the faith and was a giving and kind witness for the Lord. He was God-fearing and God-loving. During his time here with us, Bob took on many responsibilities to help the communities he was involved in. He was a charter member of the Optimist Club of Live Oak, a Business Owner, a Deacon, a Sunday School Director and a Boy Scout Leader. His greatest role was as a devoted family man, who loved his wife, his children, his grandchildren and his extended family of friends and relatives. He also enjoyed a lively and supportive church family. He was a man who loved a good cup of coffee, a waitress who kept his coffee cup full, playing horseshoes and pool and, most of all, he loved laughter. Bob Adkins celebrated his birthday on this earth, the same day he celebrated his celestial birthday in heaven, on April 19th, 2011. He will always be remembered for his smile, intelligence, charm, wit, selfless generosity and loving heart. Bobs life will be celebrated at The Country Church in Marion, Texas, where he was a proud member, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 25, 2011.
