Rita Macha

August 1, 1951 — March 22, 2018

Rita Macha, a faith-filled woman of God, went to meet her Creator on March 22, 2018. Born August 1, 1951 into a military family, Rita saw much of the world as a little girl since her family had many duty stations. After her father retired, she graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1969. She received her Education degree from Texas State University and a Masters in Administration and Counseling from Our Lady of the Lake University. Having a great love for children and her faith, most of her professional career was spent teaching in Catholic schools. Rita began her teaching career at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School. She taught at St. Peter and St. Paul in New Braunfels, as well as St. John Bosco, St. Anthony, St. Benedict and Smithson Valley in Comal ISD. Upon retirement she volunteered at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma. She taught CCD, coordinated the Christmas Pageant, served as a Eucharistic Minister to Methodist Northeast Hospital, and served on the parish counsel. She met the love of her life, Richard, in San Antonio and they were happily married for 45 years. She is survived by her husband Richard Macha, Aunt Pat Woollett and her 7 siblings: Dennis Graviss (Laura), Marilou Welp (David), Larry Graviss (Maureen), Ginny Boehm (Jim), Ed Graviss (Linda), Helen Tschoepe (Phil), and Tom Graviss (Leigh), and numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren. A Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, 10:30am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma, TX. Her family and friends will miss her dearly as well as the Dallas Cowboys since she was one of their most devoted fans. May our sweet angel rest in peace. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations may be made to the Guadalupe Regional Hospice in Seguin, TX or a charity of your choice.
