Richard J. Vidugiris, 91 years young, formerly of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away on July 22, 2018, in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 19, 1927, to Lithuanian immigrants, John and Frances (nee Sokolauskis) Vidugiris in Cleveland, Ohio.
Rich was a WWII Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific theater on Guam. After receiving his Bachelor's Degree, Rich's career path took him into the advertising world as a Commercial Artist/Art Director for the Bayless-Kerr Agency in Cleveland. In 1950 Rich married Dolores and they continued to reside in the Cleveland area. They had 3 children and were married for 33 years. After Dolores' death in 1983, he spent time woodcarving, painting and cooking. He also took up ballroom dancing and became an avid cyclist along the Cuyahoga Valley Towpath Trail.
He later met and married Rene, whose career in the Army took them to many locations across the United States. Upon their retirement to San Antonio, Rich's interests expanded to include sculpting, wine tasting, fishing, traveling, gardening and gun collecting. He became a friend to everyone he met and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Rich was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Irene Alger; wives, Dolores (nee Mausser) and Rene (nee Montfort) and son, John. He is survived by his daughters, Lynn Bletsh (Scott, deceased) and Laura Chrzanowski (Ted); stepdaughter, Pamela McCloskey (Dan); grandchildren, Grant Chrzanowski (Lauren), Jessica Chrzanowski, Emily Chrzanowski, Megan McCloskey and Matt McCloskey; great-grandson, Benjamin Chrzanowski, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. A Military Graveside Service at 11 AM on Friday, October 12, 2018, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, Shelter 1, San Antonio, Texas.
