Richard Sprague Jr.

March 29, 1947 — February 24, 2019

Richard Kimball "Kim" Sprague, Jr., born March 29, 1947, in Salem, Massachusetts, passed away February 24, 2019 at his home in Cibolo, Texas.

Kim was an avid sportsman, spending childhood summers in Duxbury, MA chasing ‘blues" along the New England coast and sailing. He played hockey, lacrosse, squash, tennis and golf ( "anything with a stick" ).

His passion for bird watching led him to the Texas Coast; his passion for hiking took him to Friedrich Park and beyond. He ascended Mt. Washington numerous times, once proudly with his son Andy.

Foremost, Kim absolutely loved the people in his life. He considered himself both extremely lucky and grateful for those that touched his life. His happiest moments were spent hosting a dinner, meeting friends for "a beer" or simply chatting with family and friends and telling a good joke. Kim was undoubtedly the "life of the party".

Kim was very happily married to Tina S. Sprague and was the proud father of three: Cate, Andrew and Richard K. Sprague, III. He also dearly loved the time he spent with his step-children: Jeremy Bilby, Megan Riley; Daniel, Brandon, Weston and Nicholas Christy; as well as his 10 grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, March 29th from 1:00PM to 4:00PM at the Quarry Market Golf Club, 444 East Basse Road, San Antonio, Texas. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Audobon Society.
