Richard “Rick” Michael Castro, age 65 of Marion, Texas, cherished husband, father and grandfather, entered the glorious presence of the Lord in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, September 18, 2020.
Rick left a legacy of love through his wife, Kum, of 42 years; father, James K. Boustead, mother, Joan Boustead, daughters, Susan Cleaver, Joanna Randolph and Kimberly Grey; brothers, Robert Castro and James C. Boustead; sisters, Cynthia Marsh and Jeanne Castro; and many beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Rick was an adored and greatly esteemed father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone.
Rick was born May 2, 1955 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He graduated from Woodbine High School in 1973 and from Wayland Baptist University in 2008. On April 7, 1978 he married the former Yi Kum Ok in Seoul, South Korea. Rick’s life was marked by service and he retired from the United States Air Force after 24 years of serving his country and, afterwards, as a Civil Servant. He also thoroughly enjoyed business and spending time with people and expressed this by doing entrepreneurial ventures, together with his wife, part-time at a market for 31 years
Rick was a devoted father, grandpa, husband, and friend to all. His legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with as well as those he reached but never met. He was a fiercely devoted husband to his wife, and their closeness only grew and strengthened as their time in marriage went on. His children, and many others, called him a problem solver and confidant. Even as adults, they still frequently sought his wisdom. He was always there for everyone through their ups and downs, and taught them to enjoy every moment life had to offer. Share your stories of remembrance on Thursday, September 24, 2020, at Schertz Funeral Home from 1:00pm-2:00pm for the visitation, or his ceremony at 2:00pm. Help his kindness, loyalty, and compassion continue by sharing a memory of him with everyone you know.
