Ray Reyes Jr., 76, from Schertz, TX, went to be with the Lord after a long struggle with cancer. He passed away in his home on Saturday, June 11, 2022, surrounded by his family. Ray was born April 26, 1946 in Corpus Christi, Texas to the parents of Reynaldo Reyes and Janie Rodriguez. He attended Richard King High School and then enlisted in the United States Army in November of 1968. He served honorably as a crew chief in Vietnam for 3 years and received the following during his service: The National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four bronze service stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharp Shooter Medal and the Marksman Medal. Ray worked hard all his life as a sales representative for an automotive paint company before becoming a Regional Sales Manager. Ray married Rose Marie Carpinteyro in 1989 in Duncanville, TX and were happily married for 33 years. He enjoyed life's pleasure playing golf as a member of the Pan American Golf Association. Along with his family, Ray was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Parish in Selma, Texas. As an avid Longhorn fan, Ray’s passion was attending sporting events with his family at the University of Texas at Austin and watching the tower turn orange during every win. Ray is survived by his spouse Rose, his daughter Roberta, his son Rafael, and family pup, Luke. He is also survived by his son Ronnie Reyes (Jeannie), grandchildren Jessica Flores, Jordan, Jackie, and Josie Reyes; daughter Bridgette Escobedo (Ralph), grandchildren Andrew (Erica), Elaine, Emalinda, Esai, and great grandchildren Ally and Kate; brothers in-law Dr. Ralph Carpinteyro (Irma), and Ricky Carpinteyro (Soraida), and several nieces, nephews, and siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved nephew Ricardo (Bear) Carpinteyro. A funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Selma, TX on June 27, 2022. Visitation will be held at 10am, followed by a Rosary at 1030am, and Mass at 11am,interment at OLPH cemetery. The family will host a reception in the Pastoral Center following interment. The family would like to thank the staff at Schertz Funeral Home, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help. They would also like to extend a special thanks to Sister Leonita, Deacon Louis, Father Jeff, the music ministry, Rita Hollingsworth, Phyills Orr, Cynthia Sandoval, the Vincentians from St. Vincent de Paul Society and family and friends for their prayers and generosity.
