Ray Leach

Ray C. Leach, 84, entered his eternal rest on November 6, 2009, after a 20 year battle with emphysema, at his home, in San Antonio, Texas. His loving family was at his side. His life will be celebrated at a Memorial Service, at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 12, 2009, at Universal City United Methodist Church, 90 Winn Avenue, Universal City, Texas, 78148. Ray was born October 2, 1925, in Jerome, Idaho. He came to San Antonio, Texas in 1961, along with his wife, Dorla and four children. His fifth child was born in 1962. He served in the Army Air Corps in 1945-1947. He married Dorla Dean Parrott in 1947. He worked in Hagerman Valley, Idaho, through 1961. He worked for Browning Construction Company as a Construction Superintendent for 23 years, overseeing many new buildings on the UTSA campus as well as the Cancer Research Center, and then worked for Tribble & Stephens and Stout Construction. He was a member of Universal City United Methodist Church since 1970. He passionately enjoyed golf, gardening, constructing furniture and his grandchildrens toys as well as travel in his later years. He is survived by his wife, Dorla, of 62 years; son, Fred and Karen Leach, Bulverde, Texas; son Kelly and Marcia Leach, Boerne, Texas; son, Charles Leach, San Antonio, Texas; Kerry and Kristine Dunn, daughter, San Antonio, Texas; numerous grandchildren; brother, Ted and Donna Leach, Orofino, Idaho, numerous nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends who also loved him. He is preceded in death by daughter, Raedean, three brothers and one sister. His grateful family would like to thank Vitas Hospice and Caring Companions for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice Foundation of America and Universal City United Methodist Church
