Phyllis Ann Watson, born on May 31, 1941, in Porum, OK, passed away on December 17, 2015, in Universal City, TX, at the age of 74. Phyllis loved to read, travel, enjoyed a wide range of music, was a dedicated shopper, and was well known to the Home Shopping Network and QVC. Phyllis worked for Boise Cascade for four years in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Tuesday Morning for ten years in San Antonio, Texas. On June 4, 1971, she married James Edward Watson, in Denver, Colorado and they were happily married for 44 years. They shared Air Force assignments to Sacramento, CA, Los Angeles, CA, Salt Lake City, UT, Washington, DC, San Antonio, TX (twice) and Warner Robins, GA. During these periods, she was active in the Officer's Wives Clubs at Mather AFB, Randolph AFB and Warner Robins AFB. She co-chaired the Randolph Officer's Wives Club Christmas Bazaar in 1993 and was active in the Mil-Civ Wives Club in San Antonio. In 1993, she and Jim settled in Universal City and she loved the house and neighborhood they settled in. She appreciated the friendship and support of all the neighbors and friends in the local area. During her last illnesses, Phyllis received incredible care and loving support from the staff of the Dabas Cancer Institute and the Cardiology Clinic of San Antonio. Their travels in retirement included four trips to Hawaii, two to Newport Beach and Atlantic City and one to the Napa Valley. She loved going on cruises and described her cruise out of Vancouver to Alaska to be the "best ever." Phyllis was a gracious, caring person who treated everyone she met with respect and dignity. She was a wonderful listener and made everyone she spent time with quickly comfortable in her presence. She had a knack for relating to others that few are able to demonstrate. Phyllis adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ruby Alexander. She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Watson; sons, Robert D. Jess and wife, Elizabeth, Wesley F. Jess and wife, Tania; daughter, Danielle E. Watson and husband, Victor Williams; sister, Lana Mendoza and husband, Bill; brother in law, Robert E. Watson; sister in laws, Mary E. Watson-Stribula, and Patricia E. Watson; 6 grandchildren, Melissa Skeritt and husband John, Ryan Jess and wife Sara, Richie Jess, Tyson Jess, Logan Jess, and Jade Jess; and 6 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2015, at 1:00 PM, at Schertz Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held following the visitation, at 2:00 PM, at Schertz Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Cancer Society or Vitas Hospice. A reception to follow at 8726 Iliad, Universal City, TX 78148.
