Peggy Petersen
January 27, 1926 — October 9, 2010
Peggy Pottenger Petersen, daughter of Thurl and Flora Pottenger, was born January 27, 1926 and left this life on October 9th, 2010. Peggy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Dr. Quentin Richard Petersen and her brother Hal Pottenger. She is survived by daughter Jan Petersen Haynie and son-in-law Ken Haynie, son Bardo Petersen, 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Peg received her bachelors degree from Antioch College and her Masters from Northwestern University. She lived a colorful life and enjoyed many careers. Teaching was her love but her most rewarding work was as a Social Worker for the Shepherd Public School System. Peg helped children and families find common ground while gently guiding them to better choices. Peg travelled the world sharing her zest for life while living in many countries including Spain, Taiwan, and New Zealand. Peg retired to San Antonio after spending 30 years in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan but remained an ardent fan of Central Michigan University sports (Go Chips ). Peg loved tailgating with the faculty and throwing her annual Fish House Punch party to make sure Mt. Pleasant had a social pulse. When you met Peggy you met your new best friend. She dedicated her life to her husbands health, her communitys vibrancy, her liberal views, and helping people learn to agree to disagree. Her storytelling, laugh, and genuine love for everything in life will be forever missed. Peggys view on life was arent we lucky , and that sums it up for those she leaves behind. The family extends gratitude for the loving care she received from Doctors, Parker and Silva, and the staff of Caring Senior Services. We would especially like to recognize and thank our loving family friend and caregiver, Lucy Goana, who provided daily care for both Peggy and Quentin. The family held a private memoriam and asks that in lieu of flowers any donations be made to Schertz Public Library at 798 Schertz Parkway, Schertz, Texas 78154.
