Patricia (Pat) Rose Johnson, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on 14 August 2014 after a long, hard fought battle against cancer. She was a determined fighter who never gave up. She passed away peacefully at home with her loving husband of 48 years by her side. Pat, a resident of Cibolo, Tx was born on September 28, 1945 in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. She was married to James B. (Jim) Johnson on August 20, 1966. Pat was a kind, considerate, loving, and generous person. She was an active member of many professional and charitable organizations. She was a member of the Randolph Metrocom Rotary Club for over twenty six years, and had perfect attendance every year until ill health prevented her from going. She held many important positions in the club and led the way for many other women to follow in her footsteps by being elected the first woman president of the club. As a member, she sponsored many charitable organizations and was particularly involved in supporting activities for local youth organizations; she was also active in leading food drives, collecting food and presents for the needy, and raising funds for educational scholarships. For many years she sponsored an annual golf tournament, both as a volunteer and a financial contributor, for which all proceeds went to Partners in Education. Her support and donations helped provide essential resources for needs such as health care, glasses, and clothing, among other things. Pat was also involved in National and International Rotary Conventions. As a Rotarian, Pat received much recognition for service, such as Rookie Rotarian of the Year and Rotarian of the Year. She was Rotarian Chair for the 2011-2012 Rotarian Year She was a true Rotarian in every sense of the word, always putting service to others before self. She was a member of Impact San Antonio, "Women Making a Difference." As such she generously contributed to programs which provided needed assistance for health care, scholarships, and other important charitable needs. She was also a strong supporter of the Wounded Warrior Program. She received a Certificate of Recognition for her "generous contribution to the Fort Sam Houston Warrior and Family Support Center". Pat was a member of the Red Hat Society and was an avid Jazzerciser for over thirty years Pat graduated from the University of Texas of San Antonio with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and a Masters Degree in Professional Accountancy. She was elected to membership in the Beta Gamma Sigma society, which is the highest scholastic honor that a student in a school of business or management can achieve. Membership is restricted to students of high scholarship and good moral character. Pat was a Life Member of the UTSA Alumni Association. After graduation, she passed the Certified Public Accountancy (CPA) exam on her first attempt. She later obtained several more certifications such as Certified Financial Planner (CFP), and Certified Senior Advisor (CSA).Pat was a leader in her field, and was a member of many local, state, and national professional organizations. She has served as president of the American Society of Women Accountants, San Antonio Chapter and was the San Antonio Region Chapter Director, Field Leader, and Mentor Leader for H.D. Vest Financial Services. She never stopped educating herself in tax preparation, annuities, estate planning, and insurance, always with the objective of being better able to serve her clients. She served hundreds of clients in all aspects of financial planning as well as prepared individual and corporate tax returns. Her clients were not just clients, they were good and valued friends. They will greatly miss her love and advice. She was pre-deceased by her father, Edward Joseph Arsenault (born in Berlin, New Hampshire); mother, Rose Rita Arsenault (born in St. Jacques, Newfoundland, Canada; step father, Herbert Thistle (born in St. John's Newfoundland, Canada). Left to mourn her passing are husband, James B. (Jim) Johnson, Cibolo, Tx; daughters Christine Beth Robinson (David Lee), Live Oak, Tx; Suzanne Lynn Johnson (significant other, Frank Fletcher, Jr), San Antonio, Tx; grandson David (Alec) Robinson, Live Oak, Tx; granddaughter Jayme Lee Robinson, Live Oak, Tx; brother-in-law Raymond (Mike) Johnson, Universal City, Tx and, many wonderful friends across the area and the state. Brothers Dr. William Arsenault (Jennifer), Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador; Joseph (Joey) Arsenault (Carol), St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador; step brothers Carson Thistle (Lorraine), St. Johns, Newfoundland and Labrador; Calvin Thistle (Barb), Sidney, Nova Scotia, Canada; Niece Susan Arsenault, Seoul, Korea; Nephews David Arsenault, Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Randall Arsenault, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; William Arsenault, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Schertz Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 11:15AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
