Patricia Bryan

March 8, 1936 — November 23, 2018

Patricia (Pat) Bryan, age 82, passed away on November 23, 2018 at her home in Schertz, Texas. She was born in Somerville, Massachusetts but lived most of her life in the Manchester, NH area.

Pat attended Central High School in Manchester, NH and graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Nashua, NH and New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord, NH. Pat was a retired RN Charge Nurse for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Manchester NH. She worked in the nursing home unit and spent her life caring for disabled veterans. She was instrumental in starting the hospice program at the Manchester VA. Following her retirement from the VA, she continued her commitment to veterans. She was an active member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary, Henry J. Sweeney Post 2 in Manchester, NH and participated in the Honor Flight New England to accompany WWII veterans to Washington DC to visit the memorials. Pat was a New Hampshire Granite State Ambassador and an active member of the Manchester based Silver Stars singing group.

Pat moved to Schertz, Texas in 2017 and quickly became a member of the American Legion in Texas as well as an active member of the Schertz Senior Center and the Schertz Silver Serenaders singing group that performed at many nursing homes and veteran based venues.

Pat loved to write prose and to tell jokes. She felt laughter was medicine and she practiced this every day of her life. Pat also loved to take pictures to document moments in people's lives. She often created mementos to share with them afterward.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Doris Cavanaugh; sisters, Ruth Veno and Doris Segal; brothers, Paul Cavanaugh and John (Jack) Cavanaugh and her daughter Christine Bean. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Borges with husband Humberto Borges of Murrells Inlet, SC and Susan Poliquin with husband Terry Poliquin of Schertz, TX; son, Michael McGinnin with wife Lanny McGinnin of Nashua, NH; granddaughters, Valerie Valliere with husband Jim Valliere of Manchester, NH and Kelly Borges of Philadelphia, PA; grandsons, Joe Bean of Nashua, NH, Tim Hapgood with wife Carolyn Hapgood of Leander, TX, Matthew Bean of Manchester, NH; brothers, William (Bill) Cavanaugh with wife Marilyn of Auburn, NH and Ed Cavanaugh and wife, Dee of San Jose, CA ; sister, Mae Lindermood of Roanoke, VA as well as several nieces and nephews.

There will be no burial services. A celebration of Pat's life will be held at the Henry J. Sweeney Post in Manchester, NH on July 6th from 1:00 - 4:00. Memorial donations may be made to Liberty House at http://libertyhousenh.org.
