Pamela Ann Silva, born on April 8, 1959 in Norwich, NY, passed away on January 1, 2020, in San Antonio, TX at the age of 60. She is preceded in death by her parents James Perry and Nelberta Ann Stafford. Pamela is survived by her husband of Marshell Joe Silva; children, Stephanie A Britain, Danielle M Lorenzana (Michael T.), and Jonathan P. Silva (Alyissa M.); sister Cathrine Rauschendorfer (Allen); grandchildren, Rebekah, Jayce, Natalie, and Zoe. She also has nieces, Nichole Wright and Lillian Plunkett, and nephew James Plunkett. Pam was a devoted wife and mother. Her whole life was dedicated to making sure her family was safe and taken care of. She spent her childhood growing up in Norwich, New York until she joined the Army in 1978, becoming a member of the US Army’s Women Corps and spent 20 years in service to her country until she retired in 1998 as a Sergeant First Class. During her time in the Army she served in Fort McPherson Georgia, Fort Wainwright Alaska, Fort Huachuca Arizona, Fort Hood Texas, Panama, and Fort Bragg NC as a member of the Golden Knights team, performing her job in Aviation support. After her military career she continued her service as a federal employee in the Aviation field, working her way to be Deputy Director of Aviation Operations at Fort Hood, Tx where she oversaw many duties, including the support of military units deploying and redeploying during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. She loved what she did and had passion for it.
During those years she raised 2 daughters and a son and doted on 4 grandchildren who she loved to take on trips, and tell everyone about who would listen. She was active in her children and grandchildren’s sports, making sure her schedule was cleared to attend softball, football, cheerleading, swim, and baseball games. Her family was her most important priority, any time anyone needed her, she would move the Earth to be there. In her spare time she loved to craft, travel, garden, and play golf. She was a woman of many talents. If she found out anyone was having a baby, or needed comfort, she would sit and crochet a special afghan blanket for them. She made items to sell at craft fairs and personalized decorations for her grand babies birthday parties. She was an awesome golfer and a member of a golf league, winning all kinds of prizes.
She loved to take trips with her husband to ski for the holidays, visit her childhood home with her sister, and family vacations around the country, including several trips to Hawaii and was an exchange student as a teenager to France, Italy, and Germany.
She loved everyone in her life; family, friends, and would make her colleagues her friends and built lifelong relationships. She was a kind and open woman who would give you the time and respect she would ask for herself but was not one to impose or cater to negative or hurtful acts. She was a woman who would choose love over all else and showed it in her decisions every day.
Her life and character will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, and loved ones who will spread those traits that made her the wonderful woman she was. Graveside service will be held on Monday, January 13, 2020, 9:15am, at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
