Oscar Munoz, Sr.
March 26, 1933 — August 15, 2015
Oscar Muoz Sr. Msgt. USAF (ret.), born on March 26, 1933, in George West Texas, passed away on August 15, 2015, at the age of 82. Oscar was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Adelinda (Gonzales) Muoz, his daughter, Virgie Muoz, his parents, Victor G. Muoz and Angelita Lopez. He is survived by his children, Oscar Muoz Jr. & his wife Lucy and their children Laura Schoorl, Daniel Moreno and Benjamin Muoz; Rene Muoz, Patty White & her husband Danny White, son Ryan White and great granddaughter, Payton White; sister, Isabel Munoz Chapa. Oscar served over 23 years in the USAF and his service included the Korean Conflict, North Africa (Cold War) and Thailand. He and his family were stationed at Webb AFB, Laredo AFB, RAF Wethersfield England, Williams AFB, Grand Forks AFB and Randolph AFB where he retired. He also served various TDY's throughout the world. After retiring from the Air Force he worked for Bell Helicopter located in Iran for 1 yr, San Antonio Airport on commercial airplanes and Lear Siegler Inc. at Randolph AFB for 19 yrs which allowed him to serve in Venezuela, Ohio and Florida. Oscar enjoyed hunting at Camp Bullis, fishing, boating and working on his 1972 suburban. He loved his beautiful wife and family very much which included his extended family in Colombia. He was a very hard working man who always took care of his family, friends, neighbors, strangers and who taught his children never to be afraid of hard work. In the last 5 yrs of his life his motto was "I got one foot in the grave and one foot on a banana peel". His wit, charm and humorous personality will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held at the Schertz Funeral Home, Thursday, August 27, 2015 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00pm. The funeral service will be at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 11:00am, on Friday, August 28, 2015, with the interment to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
