Orvin Lund

Orvin Lund, age 76 of Cibolo, passed away on April 3, 2011. Orvin Lund was born on June 6, 1934 in the telephone office at Hansboro, ND. When he was 2 years old, the Lund family moved to Hoffman, MN where he grew up. After high school, he attended ND State School of Science where he graduated in 1954. In October 1955, he joined the Air Force where he spent over 30 years. He was stationed at various military bases stateside and overseas. For 13 years he taught and managed a professional military education (PME) school where he taught leadership, management and communication skills to noncommissioned officers. While in the Air Force, he earned his bachelors degree in psychology and masters in counseling from Troy State University. He retired from the Air Force in March 1986 as a Chief Master Sergeant. Following his Air Force career, he worked as a Curriculum Development Specialist at St. Philips College for 3 years and finished his career as a Civilian Training Manager at the Services Agency at Randolph AFB. He retired on June 1, 1999 after 10 years at the Services Agency. He has lived in Cibolo since retirement. Orv was a devout Christian, avid sports fan and loved to travel and spend time with the family that he was so proud of. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and his first wife, Carol. He is survived by his present wife, Pat, five daughters, Jeanne Currie (Rob), Joni Grant, Julie Martin (Bill), Jan Myers (Jeff), Jackie Warren (Greg) and one son, Jeff (DeNice). He has thirteen grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. His extended family included Pats brother Jim Ford (Linda); four children, Paula Rudisill (Billy), Sharon Strasser, Jim Tyra, and LeeAnn Smith (G.E.); with thirteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren on the way. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Schertz Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Universal City. Interment will follow at 1:45 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
