Nita Holcek

Nita Jo Holcek, age 65, passed away on October 15, 2019 in Live Oak, Texas. She was born on August 18, 1954 to Harold and Ollie Neff in San Antonio, Texas. Nita Jo devoted much of her life to serving the handicapped and those with special needs. She was a Special Education teacher in the Schertz school district for 18 years, and continued working in the field after she left the public school system. She also volunteered with the Special Olympics. Nita Jo was a proud member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, as well as Hermann Sons. In her free time she loved playing bingo weekly, as well as watching sports on TV and going to sporting events.  She was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, Texas Longhorns, and University of Maryland. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Nita Jo is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Dwight D. Holcek; daughters: Whitney Holcek and Heather Zuniga & husband John Anthony (Tony) Zuniga; grandchildren: Dylan Zuniga and Mason Zuniga; sisters: Jacklynn (Jackie) Price and B. Kathleen (Kathy) Alblinger & husband John; brother; Harold (Hal) Neff & wife Lynda; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

A Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00PM on Monday, October 21, 2019 at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel, with a Rosary being recited at 7:00PM. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 10:30AM on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma, TX, with interment following at Selma Cemetery #2.
