Nicanor "Nick" Varela, Jr., born April 10, 1950, passed away on July 20, 2015. Nick spent 22 years working as a auto sales consultant. He loved to work on the garden and had a green thumb. Of his many hobbies, he enjoyed playing poker, black jack and billiards. At the end of hard working day, it was common to see Nick relaxing with a cold beer. The music he enjoyed was of the classic country variety, such as: Johnny Cash, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Alan Jackson, George Straight, and Ricky Van Shelton. He also enjoyed classical easy listening and The Rat Pack, and other favorites were, Doris Day, Tony Bennett, Sarah Brightman, Andrea Brocelli, Pink Martini, Placido Domingo, and even Mozart. Best of all, Nick enjoyed Mariachi Music. He could always be found dancing to the lively Mexican tunes at any gathering he was invited to. Nick often found comfort and strength listening to the New Testament on audiotapes. His relationship with the Lord was renewed and strengthened during his battle with brain cancer. He was a warrior and fought valiantly yet humbly until the end. Nick was very spontaneous and was ready to do anything at the spur of the moment. He enjoyed traveling and his trip to Italy was one of the highlights of his life. Nick was vivacious, hearty, and humble, and will forever be remembered in our hearts.
