Neil Blanchard

Neil lived the great life, successfully raising 6 children, being a wonderful husband to his wife, grandfather to 12 and great grandfather to 7. He was raised on a Plantation in Louisiana, proudly served 21 years in the Air Force. Neil served at numerous bases, his favorite was Elmendorf AFB near Anchorage, Alaska where he enjoyed two of his favorite past times, hunting and fishing. which he shared with his family thus creating wonderful memories. He served a year in Saudi Arabia, Kelly AFB, Lockborne AFB, two tours in Vietnam and retiring after his last assignment Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX.

He was always there for his family through thick and thin. He has left a beautiful legacy and will be greatly missed by many who knew and loved him.

Neil was preceded in death by parents Eddie and Velma Blanchard; brother Clifford Blanchard; sister Rose Marie Meche; sons Paul Thomas, David Thomas and Joseph Paul; granddaughter Angela Barnett.

Neil is survived by his wife of 63 years, Kathleen; children: Cynthia & Robert Wissmann, Kathy Blanchard, Susan & Terry Hattaway, Theresa Blanchard and Michael & Shannon Blanchard. Grandchildren: Chris, Kate, Amanda, Travis, Lindsey, Jessica, Jesse, John, Leah and Delaney. Great Grandchildren: Ethan, Brenna, Maggie, Jenya, Addison, Avry and Evan.

A visitation will take place at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 10:00AM, a Rosary will be recited at 10:30AM with the Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Selma Cemetery No. 2. with Military Honors
