Nathaniel Hernandez

Nathaniel "Nathan" Hernandez was born on June 5, 2013 in San Antonio, Texas. Surrounded by his family, the Lord called him home on September 21, 2019.

Nathan was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor called Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor (ATRT) at six months old. His aggressive treatment plan included multiple brain surgeries as well as rounds of chemotherapy, radiation and a stem cell transplant, accompanied with many other procedures.

Nathan was a beautiful little boy. He couldn’t live a typical toddler life because his immune system was always weak. Exposure was limited in order to prevent him from getting sick. His friends were his three siblings and his cat. His nine year old brother was his wrestling buddy, his sister was his little nurturer, his oldest brother was his hero and his cat was his best friend. He spent a big part of his day next to his cat, feeding her snacks and laying his head on her as if she was a pillow; she never seemed to mind.

Nathan is survived by his parents, Alberto and Sabrina Hernandez; siblings, Jacob, Gaby and Jarad; his cat, Burtzie; as well as many others whom lives he has touched.

Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints in Cibolo, Texas.
