Nancy Shook Moore, formerly of Salisbury, NC, and fondly called “Nan” by family and friends, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at Angels of Hope Home, New Braunfels, TX.
Born on February 2, 1928 in Iredell County, NC, Nancy was the daughter of the late Frank E. and Grace M. Shook. She was educated in the Iredell County Schools and a graduate of Boyden High School (Salisbury High School).
Nancy was a homemaker, and also employed outside the home. She worked for Montgomery Wards, Derfla’s Children’s Shop (owned by Underwood’s), Tobias Dress Shop, and before retiring, Nancy was the Store Manager of Loflin’s Uniform Shop at Loflin Center. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, and took many enjoyable trips with her daughter.
She was a life-long member of Franklin Presbyterian Church, and also attended Randolph AFB Chapel in Universal City, TX for over 12 years.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Earle Smith Moore, and married for 56 years until he passed in 2008. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Frankie J. Land (2006), son-in-law Donald Huggins (2010) and her parents, Frank and Grace Shook.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan Moore Huggins, with whom she resided for over 15 years in Texas; son, Jeff E. Moore (Leigh Ann), Salisbury, NC; two grandsons, Dustin and Blake Moore; and many caring and loving nieces and nephews; and great / great nieces and nephews who expressed their affection and love for Nan over the years through calls, cards and FaceTime chats.
A graveside service will be held at Franklin Presbyterian Church in Salsibury, NC at a later date. Visitation will be held immediately following the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Hospice, 611 N Walnut Ave., New Braunfels, TX 78130; or Franklin Presbyterian Church, 280 Franklin Church Dr., Salisbury, NC 28147.
Her daughter, Susan, wishes to express deep gratitude to the Hope Hospice Staff, New Braunfels, TX, especially Anjanette (Nan’s Primary Nurse); Maria, Grace, Relli, Liz, Alma, Miranda, and Priscilla (Hospice Care Aids); Sarah (Social Worker); and Madeline (Hospice Chaplain) who provided care and support to Nan and Susan.
Also, Susan expresses appreciation to Angels of Hope Caregiver Home, New Braunfels, TX, especially to Luz and Dulce for care and dignity given to Nan; and to LeLani (Dulce’s young granddaughter) who made Nan smile when she visited.
