Nancy Helen Howell

November 25, 1946 – February 7, 2025

Nancy Helen Howell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Marion, TX, on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the age of 78.

Nancy was born on November 25, 1946, in Lexington, KY, to William and Hattie Mae Eldridge. She was one of eight children, preceded in death by her siblings Alice Dailey, Jimmy Eldridge, Dixie Covert, Rod Eldridge, Agnes “Aggie” Coyle, and her younger brother, Jr., who passed away at the age of two. She is survived by her sister Rae Cundiff and brother Donald Eldridge.

In 1986, Nancy married the love of her life, Thomas “Tom” Howell. Their love and devotion built a life full of cherished memories. She was a proud and loving mother to her sons, Thomas “Tommy” Powers (married to Dania) and Jimmy Powers (married to Stacey). Her greatest joy was her grandchildren: Johnathon Powers (married to Mikayla) and their sons, Kinsler and Colby; Ashley Hepburn (married to Stephen) and their daughter, Saraley; Abigail “Abby” Bowman and Connor Bowman; Jackson Powers; and Luke Powers. She cherished every moment with them and took immense pride in their lives.

Nancy spent her career working tirelessly in various administrative roles, always going above and beyond with an unmatched work ethic. She served as the attendance secretary at Kitty Hawk Middle School before becoming the technician’s office manager at Bjorn’s Audio & Video, where she met her husband Tom. She later worked at Apex Software, where she was known as the one who did it all and knew it all. No matter the role, Nancy tackled every challenge with determination and excellence.

Beyond her career, Nancy lived a life full of passion and faith. She loved Jesus and found spiritual connection through her participation in Bible Study Fellowship (BSF), where she met her dear friend Joyce Hathcox. Nancy had a beautiful voice and a gift for harmony. Whether in church choir or with family, her singing brought joy to those around her. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Universal City, though in recent years, health challenges kept her from attending in person.

Nancy’s creativity and zest for life were unmatched—whether she was repainting rooms on a whim, experimenting with hair colors, or collecting every teddy bear that captured her heart. She was strong, compassionate, sassy, and always had the perfect witty remark, followed by her signature laugh. Organized and hardworking, she poured her love into everything she did, especially when it came to her family. Her fierce love and leadership have left a lasting legacy, evident in her sons and grandchildren.

Her final years were filled with the love and care of those around her. Tom, with the help of Pat Soliz and her daughter Kassandra “Cookie” Ruiz, made sure Nancy was able to enjoy daily adventures—whether it was a trip to H-E-B for her favorite chocolate mousse or physical therapy sessions at Warm Springs, where she adored Kourtney, Kathy, and Justin. She also treasured the time she spent with her dear niece Susie Locknane during her visits.

A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025 at 5:00pm at First Baptist Church of Universal City in the main sanctuary with a small visiting reception with light refreshments afterwards in the choir room.
