Nancy Burer

October 13, 1932 — February 12, 2021

Nancy Ann (Dickerman) Burer went to be with the Lord on February 12, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 88. She was born on October 13, 1932 in Washington, D.C. to parents, William and Geraldine (Bartholemew) Dickerman.

Nancy married Arthur William Burer, or as she referred to him as Arsur or Smokey. Years after his passing in 2010, Nancy would fondly say, “once you’ve had the best, no reason to try again”. She enjoyed helping Arthur with Gideon’s International and would often put the tip in a pocket new testament Bible, where John 3:16 was and underline it. Nancy was lovingly known as Nan, Honey or Honey B. She was very independent- she had to be that way due to raising 4 children on her own because Arthur decided being a POW was better than having to be there during the teenage years (HaHa). Even towards the end of her life, Nancy was loved by many due to her kindness and ability to listen with her heart. She could be opinionated but she still loved you and wanted the best for you.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur William Burer; son, Arthur William Burer, Jr.; grandson, Bradley O. Soles; parents, William and Geraldine Dickerman. She is survived by her children, Willie Burer, Winnie and Stormy Choate, Bob and Nina Burer; 6 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and sister, Winnie Musemeci.

The Funeral Service will be at 11:00AM on Friday, February 26, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Universal City - If you will be attending the Funeral Service, please wear bright colors per Nan Burer's request. A private burial will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Gideons International, your local food bank or the Alzheimer Association.
