Monroe Weyel

Monroe F. Weyel passed away April 4, 2015 at the age of 91. Born in Marion Texas on October 27, 1923 to Edgar L. Weyel and Louise M. Pfannstiel Weyel. He graduated from Cibolo High School and Draughn's Business College. He was active in many organizations including Lion's Club, New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce, entertained at the New Braunfels Civic Center and nursing homes in the area. He was a member of several dance clubs and the German American Society. He was a long time member and past president of the Harmonia Lodge #1 of Hermann Sons Fraternal Lodge in San Antonio. He was a successful insurance agent for over 30 years with Hermann Sons becoming recognized as a top agent while in his 80's. Monroe enjoyed traveling and social activities, especially dancing with his second wife, Myrtle Nolte Weyel (deceased). He was an accomplished musician and enjoyed playing old German songs on his harmonica. He is predeceased by his parents, his wife, and his sister Edline Boenig. Monroe is survived by his brother Allan Weyel of New Braunfels, brother-in-law Lennert Boenig of San Antonio, daughters Dr. Patricia Chancellor (Dr. James) of Garden Ridge, Barbara Barbour (Mike) of Missouri City, Nancy Bettis (Mark) of Grapevine, and Sharyn Moore (Scott) of Ft.Walton Beach, Florida and grandchildren Kimberly Schwarz (Stephen) of Schertz, Michele DeAngelis (Colin) of Vernon Hills, IL, Michael Barbour (Keely) of McKinney, Melissa Ford (Blake) of Missouri City, and Erica and Lauren Moore of Ft. Walton Beach, FL. and great grandchildren, Aidan and Nadia Schwarz, Tripp, Mallie and Grisham Barbour, Ava and Colton Ford, and Evelyn DeAngelis. along several nieces and nephews. Memorial Donations could be made to: St. Paul Evangelical Church in Cibolo, Hope Hospice, or charity of your choice. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the Schertz Funeral Home from 4:00PM - 8:00PM. The funeral service will be on Friday, April 10, 2015 at the Schertz Funeral Home at 10:00AM with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery.
