Modesto Suarez

On Saturday October 6, 2018 Modesto Suarez Sr. passed away to be with the Lord. Modesto was born in McQueeney , Texas on June 15, 1923 to Epimenio and Paula Suarez. Modesto was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 60 years Maria Sifuentes Suarez, brothers Manuel Suarez, Gustavo Suarez, Epimenio Suarez, Santiago Suarez, Julian Suarez, Juan Suarez, Jesse Suarez; sisters Sara Mendoza, Anita Bustos and Eva Gutierrez, also Lupita , Paulita and Adam who passed away in infancy. Modesto was a devoted husband and father. He loved his family and church. He served our country in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He and his wife Maria raised eight children - Gualberto Suarez of Schertz , Eduardo Suarez ( Marye ) of Colorado, Ricardo Suarez (Susan) of Washington, Modesto Suarez Jr. (Yolanda) of Schertz , James Suarez (Sandra) of Magnolia, Sylvia Suarez of Schertz , Anna Devine of Schertz , and Cynthia Suarez of California. Modesto and his wife were blessed with 21 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Modesto is also survived by his brothers Abraham Suarez of Victoria, Jose Suarez (Lupe) of Seguin, and sisters Jane Varela of San Antonio, Gloria Castillo (Fred) of Synder , Matilda Fant (Charles) of Amarillo, Diana Puente (Felix)of Snyder, and Lupe Ryan (Pat) of Abilene. Modesto was a hard worker and was employed with Olmos Lumber in San Antonio and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway in Colorado. Modesto enjoyed watching the Spurs, golf, baseball, fishing, dancing, playing card games and dominoes. He especially loved spending time with his family on picnics where he could barbeque. Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 17, 2018 from 5 pm to 9 pm with a rosary at 7 pm at Schertz Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated on Thursday October 18, 2018 at 8 am at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Schertz , Tx. A graveside service will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 10:30 am. Reception will be held at Good Shepard Catholic Church following the graveside service.
