Mike Florey
April 29, 1944 — January 21, 2012
Mike Alvis Florey of Live Oak, Texas, was born on April 29, 1944 in San Antonio, Texas, and entered into rest on January 21, 2012 at the age of 67. He is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth (Libby) Kozelsky Florey and his dear sister, Irene Charlene Florey Shelley. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, four nieces, a nephew, three great nieces, two great nephews, cousins and a very special group he lovingly called Rent a Friends . From his early childhood and throughout life, Mike was known as Bear to many. He is preceded in death by his parents James L. Florey and Adeline Heuschkell Florey and his brother-in-law, Jack Coleman Shelley, Jr. He will be greatly missed by many family members and friends. In his lifetime, Mike enjoyed RVing with his wife and friends. He loved to fish, remodel his home, and work on numerous projects as a Jack of many trades . Mike worked hard all his life and did so since he was eight years old. He loved the outdoors. He never met a stranger. When anyone sat with Mike, they walked away with laughter and a smile. He was a member of the Bricklayers and Allied Council #2 of Texas, serving as President and other offices for numerous years and also was a teacher of brickmason trade. For many years, he was a very successful sales representative for Mac Tools. In his community, he was a member of SOLO (Seniors of Live Oak). Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 from 7:00pm until 9:00pm at Schertz Funeral, 2217 FM 3009, Schertz, Texas 78154. The mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 16075 N. Evans Road, Selma, Texas 78154. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the charity of personal choice. A very special message is sent to Mike: Thank you for making me laugh .
