Miguel Macias

January 26, 1937 — July 22, 2018

Miguel Soliz Macias, MSgt USAF Retired, passed away in Schertz, Texas on July 22, 2018 at the age of 81. He was born on January 26, 1937 to Pedro Trevino Macias and Otila Rangel Solis who preceded him in death. He shared his life with his wife Julia Macias, of 56 years, of who survives him in death.

Also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Caesar Michael Charles and Joyce Macias of Austin, Texas, brother of Florintino and Guadalupe Macias, of Belton, Texas, Pedro and Sally Macias of Cibolo, Texas, Mary Ann Johnson of Austin, Texas, John Henry Macias of Buda, Texas, Olivia Ann and Ruben Villarreal of Austin, Texas and Father Frank A. Macias of San Antonio. He is also survived by his grandson Michael Scott Herbst, three great-grandchildren Landon Herbst, Jasmyn and Ariana Flanagan whom are all from Austin, Texas and many lifelong friends.

Miguel was highly decorated non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Air Force and retired after 24 years. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, Joint Services Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 5 devices, Army Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 5 oak leaf clusters and many other decorations. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, past Post 64 Commander and Second District Commander of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and Vietnam Veterans of America. He was also active in the Knights of Columbus, a past Faithful Navigator of the Fourth Degree, Patriot Guard Riders, a Shriner, and a life member of Carolina Lodge 375 Hanahan, SC. He was an active Safety Range Officer for the Lafayette Sheriff's office.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 6, 2018 at 8:00 am, St. Leo's Catholic Church 4401 South Flores St. San Antonio, TX 78214. Interment Service will follow at 11:15 am at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road San Antonio, TX 78209.
