Michael Jon Johnson

Michael Jon Johnson passed away unexpectedly in Universal City, Texas on January 25, 2024 at the age of 66. He is survived by his mother Shirley Johnson; daughter and son-in-law Jaime and Ryan Lapland; sons Stephen Johnson and Michael Childs; sister Ann Gustavson, sister and brother-in-law Mary and Mario Vargas, and brother Joseph Johnson; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 aunts; and numerous nieces and nephews; longtime friend and caregiver Lisa Kessler; and dog and best friend that he rescued, Ginger. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Johnson; his duck, Jaws; and his special dog, Ziggy, who once saved his life.

Born in Lansing, Michigan, July 2, 1957, Michael was raised in Bellevue, Michigan before moving to Texas as an adult. Mike loved family and life, always had a smile on his face even during difficult times. He enjoyed collecting and listening to music, hunting, and fishing.

Through the years he faced many health issues and beat the odds, until his final challenge. Michael’s family and friends are heartbroken that he is gone but find comfort in the knowledge that they will see him again someday.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday January 30, 2024, at 911 Horseshoe Trail, Universal City, TX from 12 to 6pm.
