Lt. Col. Michael George Glynn (Retired US ARMY) was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 21, 1935 and passed away on March 28, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas. Mike graduated from Georgetown University in 1958 and entered the US Army shortly after graduation. He received his Master's degree from Appalachian University in 1974. During the Vietnam conflict he served two tours in Vietnam and one in Laos where he served as a Military Intelligence Officer and Special Operations . During his military career he was stationed at Fort Benning Georgia, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Fort Gordon, Georgia, Fort Ord, California, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, Heidelberg and Augsburg Germany and Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Mike earned numerous medals and awards during his military career including, the Bronze Star of Valor, Distinguished Service Medal (DSM), Legion of Merit, Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Air Medal for combat air flight, Army Commendation Medal and a Laotian Medal for Airborne Operations. Mike was instrumental in forming the Fox Run Neighborhood Association and the Fox Country Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Chief. Mike has served on the Planning and Zoning Commission for the City of Live Oak for the past several years. Mike has been a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Selma for over 40 years where he was involved with the Military Ministry and a Third Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of VFW Post 8541 and The American Legion Post No. 0593. Our Dad was a faith-filled man, a true patriot, hero and Father. Dad, we miss you but know you are living pain free. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7 He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Louise Glynn and infant son, James Ambrose Glynn; sister, Elise Winters and brother, Christopher Glynn. Mike is survived by his daughters, Cathie Porter and her husband Bill, Trish Brymer and her husband Matt, Susie Sheffield and her husband Rodney and Amanda Frazier and her husband John; grandchildren, Jennifer Cummings and her husband SFC Paul Cummings, Ashley Johnson and husband Chris, Christy Brymer, 1st Lt. Christopher Brymer, Cade Sheffield, Jackson and Lucas Frazier; great grandchildren, Tatum and Maddox Cummings and Kierstynn and Hallie Johnson. He is also survived by his former wife Donna Howell; brothers, Timothy Glynn and wife Kerri, James Glynn and wife Connie and sister, Louise Barr. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Schertz Funeral Home from 5:00PM-9:00PM with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00PM. The Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church at 12Noon.
