Michael Dawson

March 25, 1940 — September 24, 2014

Ret SFC Michael Ray "Skip" Dawson born March 25, 1940 passed away September 24, 2014 with his wife by his side. Skip honorably served in the United States Army for 22 years, with three tours in Vietnam. He retired in 1979 to pursue his love of archery. He started the archery program at Ft. Sam Houston for the Wounded Warriors. He coached many Wounded Warriors in the Para Olympic Games. Skip also coached many civilians' children and adults over the years and had many Texas State Champions. Skip was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth Lee Dawson and Averill "ChiChi" Dawson, and his son Michael Scott Dawson. He is survived by his wife of 54 years June Dawson, daughter and son in law LesLie June Dawson Williams and Mitchell "Poke" Williams. His grandchildren Ryan Anthony Williams, AMEAN Madison D. "Hatter" Williams. There will be a memorial service on October 1st at 11:15am located at Ft Sam Houston Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Wounded Warriors program. The family wishes to thank Hope Hospice of New Braunfels his nurse Babbett Chapman, Chaplin Megan Trout, Chris Macedone social worker.
