Michael Sean Barrett, of Schertz, TX, passed away peacefully, Tuesday May 16, 2017, surrounded by friends and family. He is survived by his parents, Nina and Richard Barrett, of El Paso, TX, his brother Keith Barrett and Sister-In-Law Debra, of Albuquerque, NM, Grandmother Marjorie Barrett, of El Paso, TX, his significant other, Rebecca Watson, and their children Katherine and Alex, and his former wife Jeanette Hassold and their children, Aidan and Gianna.
Michael was a loving and caring father who was always there for his kids. He was a generous and kind-hearted man who loved teaching. His patience and kindness showed through the most when he was working with children. He volunteered as a coach for baseball, football, and soccer. He had a special place in his heart for special needs children. Music was his passion. He was a gifted guitarist who enjoyed sharing music with others. He found something of value in all types of music, whether it be playing in one of his many bands, trying to dance to pop music with his daughters, or being dragged out to karaoke. He enjoyed having spirited debates with the TV, whether it be due to the successes and failures of his favorite sports teams, or the current political climate. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held May 19, 2017 at 2pm at the Schertz Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to either, Planned Parenthood, The ACLU, or Doctors Without Borders, which were programs that Michael supported.
