Melissa Bowen
June 22, 1968 — February 14, 2015
Melissa Carol King Bowen was born on June 22, 1968 at the Air Force Academy, Colorado, and passed away on February 14, 2015 at the age of 46. Melissa attended Southwest Texas State where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Outdoor Recreation. She had worked for the Department of The Air Force as an Athletic Director, serving for five years in Korea at both Kunsan and Osan Air Force bases. Melissa also worked as an Event Coordinator at the Henry B. Gonzales convention center. She also worked in the insurance industry for several years before becoming a sales and service representative for Cole Hersee, covering the western half of the United States. Melissa was also active for several years with the San Antonio Sports Association working during the Final Four events held in San Antonio. Melissa is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Philip and Marie Schwartz; paternal grandparents, Ralph and Alice King. She is survived by her son, Tyler Morgan Bowen of Schertz, TX; parents, Robert and Nancy King of Schertz, TX; brother, Robert E. King, Jr., Sister-In-Law, Maribeth King of Schertz, TX; nieces, Jordan and Alyssa; nephew, John. The funeral service will be held at the Schertz United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at 4:00PM, interment will be held at a later date in Wiley, Colorado.
