Melford Friesenhahn

Melford Ottmar Friesenhahn, born March 20, 1940 in San Antonio, TX, passed away January 25, 2017 at the age of 76. Melford is preceded in death by his parents Ottmar and Emilie Friesenhahn and two sisters Margaret Mika and Marcella Edwards. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Betty Friesenhahn; children Cindy Letbetter (Doug), Brenda Mattke (Kevin), and Jason Friesenhahn (Melissa). He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren Justin Letbetter (April), Jacob Letbetter, Tyler Mattke, and Travis Mattke; great grandchildren Mason Letbetter and Braelyn Letbetter; 3 sisters, Vernell Mika, Joyce Bernstein (Mike), and Helen Hovan (Jack). Melford worked for CPS Energy and retired after 35 years. He was a car enthusiast; and enjoyed the company of his loving dog Sarah. He took pride maintaining a beautiful yard, and enjoyed watching the birds and keeping them fed. Above all he loved spending time with his family. A visitation will be held at the Schertz Funeral Home on Monday, January 30, 2017 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with a rosary to be recited at 7:00pm. The funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, 10:00am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Selma, TX with interment to follow at Selma Cemetery No. 2.
