Melanie JoAnn Moser, 45 years old, passed away in Universal City, Texas, after years of increasing physical disability, on September 19, 2024. She was born April 15, 1979 in Grants, New Mexico. Her parents are: Mother, Diane Young Moser; Father, Peter Richard Moser. She had a bonus mother, Carol A. Moser.
Melanie held a BA in Psychology from University of Texas at San Antonio, and. MA in Guidance and Counseling from Texas A & M. She passed her LPC Test on her first sitting. Melanie proudly served in the United States Air Force. Besides her military service, she found great pride in counseling children and volunteering with equestrian therapy. Her fur babies were her constant companions who brought her great joy. Before becoming disabled, Melanie enjoyed playing on various softball leagues from 1988 to 2001. As the catcher, she had no problem being welcomed! Creatively she loved drawing, woodworking, designing and writing.
Melanie is survived by her parents, her brothers: Peter M. Moser (Gloria), Perry M. Moser (LaChelle), and Peirce R. Moser (Mitchell). Her bonus siblings: Debbie, Terri, Leslie, and Chris. Her much-loved bonus families: The Thompsons and the Elbels. She is also survived by her beloved pets Eliot, Spencer, and Ty. Eight nieces and nephews, five grandnieces and grandnephews, and 36 cousins.
She was preceded in death by her beloved niece, Amanda A. Moser, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Melanie was further proceeded in death by her beloved dogs Dakota, Chance, and Claire (service dog).
There will be a visitation at Schertz Funeral Home, 2217 FM 3009, Schertz, Texas, Sunday, October 13 at 5:00 PM with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:30 PM. Funeral Service to be held Monday, October 14 at 11:30 AM. Funeral Luncheon in at Bella Serra Restaurant in Universal City immediately to follow. Interment at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas
