Maximino Hernandez

September 15, 1935 — December 7, 2018

MSgt (US Air Force retired) Maximino "Max" Hernandez, beloved Dad, grandpy and great-grandpy, was greeted by our Lord on December 7, 2018. Max was born to Amalia and Ruperto Hernandez in Chicago, IL., but was raised in El Paso, TX., where he met and married the love of his life, Jane Hernandez. His legacy will live on through his creations accomplished by countless art works, free-form calligraphy/hand-lettering, pen-ink illustrations, humorous caricatures and cartoons, and renowned biographical portraits and murals and those who knew him. After graduating from Jefferson High School in El Paso, TX., Max honorably served in the US Air Force for 23 years, stationed at bases such as Randolph AFB, TX., Offutt AFB, NE., SHAPE Belgium, Chin Chuan Kang AB, Taiwan, Biggs AFB, TX., Torrejon AB, Spain, Eielson AFB, AK., and Holloman AFB, NM. After retirement, he humbly continued his God-gifted talent/profession at Northrop Worldwide Services, KMOL TV, and the Air Force Personnel Center. Max and Jane danced as "one" whether square dancing, round dancing, ballroom dancing, country and western dancing and other various dance forms. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 8315 and a parishioner at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. He is survived by 4 sisters and their spouses, Juanita and Edmundo Macias, Molly Richardson, Toni Rodriguez, and Connie and David Najar and 1 brother and his spouse, Ruperto and Dora Hernandez, Jr. Also, he is survived by 4 daughters and their spouses, Cynthia and Ronnie Lee, Annette Hernandez, Amanda and Terry Lee, and Erika and Mike McCarthy, 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. And he is survived by numerous relatives: cousins, nieces and nephews and in-laws.

Visitation will be held at 6:00pm, December 20, 2018, with a rosary being recited at 6:30pm at the Schertz Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00am on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Schertz, TX. Interment will be at 11:00 am at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX., with full United States Air Force Honors. His family has asked that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Good Shepherd Catholic Church building fund.
