Matthew Linhart

December 24, 1982 — August 31, 2020

Matthew “Matt” Linhart, 37, went home to Jesus on August 31, 2020 after an unexpected heart event. Matt was born to William and Mary J Linhart, a facilities supervisor and homemaker respectively, in Indianapolis, IN on December 24, 1982. He was immersed in the Scout community since age 6 and became an Eagle Scout at age 14. He graduated from the University of Northwestern in Lima, Ohio in 2005 with an auto diesel degree along with classes in agriculture and high performance racing. He accepted a position with McAlister Caterpillar in the Summer of 2005 until 2014 as a heavy equipment technician. He continued his career as a heavy equipment technician with Holt Caterpillar in 2014 with a recent promotion as a lead technician. His knowledge and love for Caterpillar was indescribable.

Matt was blessed with two beautiful children Bobby and Macie Linhart. He married his best friend and soulmate, Elvira, on August 1, 2009 in Greenfield, Indiana. Matt helped raise his children with compassion, discipline and patience. He taught Bobby how to solve complex equations and shared his love of Indiana parks with him.He taught Macie how to sing her ABCs and  she shared his love of the outdoors since birth. He dedicated his children to God and encouraged them to explore the Bible, to appreciate the beauty in the world and the vastness of God’s grace.

Matt was an intelligent, resourceful, humble man. He was loving and soft spoken. He was ready to help family solve a problem, no matter how small. He is painfully missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with our creator.

Matt is survived by his wife, Elvira; his children Bobby and Macie; his parents, Bill and Mary; his brother and sister in law, Zach and Sandra; his Grandmas, Lenora Leppert and Shirley Linhart; his mother in law Elvira De Los Santos; his sister in laws and brother in laws; nephew, Trey; nieces, Erilin and Camille; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
