Matthew Lester was called back to Heaven on April 24, 2018. He was 23 years old. He brought immense joy and laughter wherever he went.
Matthew was born on March 3, 1995 in Natchez, MS in a hospital behind the Piggly Wiggly. He completed the Lester family with his much-anticipated birth.
Matthew was a 2013 graduate of Byron P. Steele II High School where he was a three-year letterman in baseball. He helped lead the Steele Knights to a district championship as a third baseman. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserves. He graduated Basic Military Training with honors. He proudly and enthusiastically served his country. He continued working in the telecommunications field which allowed him the ability to travel extensively. He enjoyed the "road life" his career afforded him.
Matthew is survived by his parents, Bill and Susan Lester, his older brother Will, sister-in-law Kelsea , big sister Laura, and his beloved nieces, Maddy and Gracie. He is also survived by his " MeMe " Edna Wallace, Grandpa Bill Lester, Sr., Aunt Deb & Uncle Skipper Blackwell, bonus brother/cousin Adam, Uncle "Buddy" Jerry Wallace, Jr. and Aunt Liz Wallace, Aunt Liz Butler & Donna, cousins Michael & Alicia, Uncle Andy & Laura, cousins Tony & Monroe, and additional extended family.
He also left behind numerous amazing friends who were lovingly referred to as "the Hoodrats ", his baseball buddies, as well as Justin Palmer and Amanda Rappaport. The outreach and love of his buddies is greatly appreciated.
Matthew lived a full life. He traveled the world, sang along at many Cody Johnson concerts, and was passionate about cars. His sarcastic comebacks and deep conversations will be cherished for eternity.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 2:00PM at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, his family and friends ask you to consider donating to charities benefiting veterans. Matthew would want everyone to spend time with their loved ones and enjoy a Shiner Light Blonde.
