Mary Zitterkopf

January 13, 1954 — December 6, 2020

On Jan 13, 1954 Mary Anne was born to Lt. Col. Raymond and Mary Maxine Gottner in El Paso Texas. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter and aunt. She passed away with her devoted husband at her side, with whom they spent the last 50 years together.
Mary Anne graduated from Pius X High School in Lincoln Nebraska in 1972. She married James H. Zitterkopf on May 26th 1973 after several years of blissful courtship.
Her passions were modest, but she managed to get plenty of joys from life. Aside from having to put up with her sometimes grumpy husband, her hobbies included reading biographies and watching plenty of movies. Animals took up a big  part of her life including her many dogs over the years - Irish, Herbie, Sam, Pooh, and Lewis. She also had a particular fondness for feeding and watching the squirrels and birds in the backyard.
Work wasn't a thing she ever shied away from. She worked as a wire room operator at First Mid-American in the Commodity division and later moved on to managing a condominium complex whose tenants she always took great care of. When her son was two she had to retire due to medical issues and shifted to becoming a full time mother, which was her most cherished role.
Mary Anne was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Raymond Gottner, her parents-in-law Belva and Harry Zitterkopf, and her niece and nephew Karen and Jason Gottner.
She's survived by her husband James and her son Zachary. She's survived by her many siblings and spouses as well : Martin & Gail Gottner ( Palos Heights, Illinois ), Eileen Truan ( Round Rock, Texas ), John & Deborah Gottner ( Omaha, Nebraska ), Linda & Tim Olivetti ( Lincoln, Nebraska ), Deborah Gottner ( Cibolo, Texas ), Michael & Sandy Gottner ( Pflugerville, Texas ) and her in-laws Pam & Roger Wurst ( Lincoln, Nebraska ).
In addition to these many names she has left behind a large family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
