Mary Thornton

January 10, 1939 — June 12, 2012

Mary Nell (McLain) Thornton was born on January 10, 1939 and went to be with the Lord on June 12, 2012. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lee Thornton. She is survived by her sister, Doodle Grigsby (James) and six children, David Hartsfield (Maria), Keith Hartsfield (Rebecca), Anna Judge (Mike), Ginger Hughes, Robert Andrews, Scott Hartsfield, and numerous grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mary grew up in New Braunfels and graduated from New Braunfels High School and attended Texas Women's University. She spent her career working with children and was owner/founder of Mary's Little Lambs Daycare in Schertz, Texas. She was known by many children and families as "Miss Mary." Her dedication and commitment to her profession helped shape the lives of many children throughout the local community. She enjoyed antiquing, gardening, collecting dolls, caring for her pets, and spending time with family and friends. She was actively involved at Sweet Spirit Baptist Church in St. Hedwig, Texas. She will be truly missed by her family and friends. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012 at Schertz Funeral Home from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Schertz Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, San Antonio.
