Mary Moran

April 1, 1930 — May 28, 2016

Mary L. (Loftus) Moran was called home to the Lord on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at the age of 86, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Lockport, NY on April 1, 1930 to Howard and Anna Loftus. Mary was a military wife, she and her children traveled throughout the world following John on his many assignments. She always considered Lockport, NY as her home and she would stay there with her children whenever John was on a remote assignment (three tours in Korea and one in Viet Nam). Mary retired from the VA hospital in Buffalo, NY in 1992 and moved to Converse, TX in 1996 to be closer to her family. She was an amateur photographer who loved taking pictures. Mary loved people and animals of all kind. She lived by her faith in Jesus Christ. Mary has gone to be with her parents and beloved husband of 60 years CW02 John G. Moran Sr. USA (Ret); grandson, Mark Moran; siblings, Alice Burke, James Loftus, Janet Naslund, Carol Evans, Richard Loftus and Robert Loftus. Mary is survived by her daughter, Carolyn and husband CMSgt Jack Putalavage USAF (Ret) of Schertz, TX; sons, John G. Moran Jr. and wife Cathy of Livonia, MI; Brigadier General James R. Moran USA (Ret) and wife Patricia of Fairfax Station, VA; CMSgt F. Joseph Moran USAF (Ret) and Kim of Niceville, FL; sister, Anne and husband Peter Grant of Newton, PA; brother Joseph Loftus of Lockport, NY; and Judy Moran; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends scattered throughout the country. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at 4:00PM at the Schertz Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 5:30PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 10:00AM at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Interment is to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested any memorial donations be made in Mary's name, to the Good Shepherd Catholic Church new building fund, 1065 E Live Oak Rd, Schertz, TX 78154.
