Mary Genevieve (Snoga) McDonald, was born on January 3, 1934, to Peter and Gertrude Snoga in Lark, Texas. Raised in Texas, where she learned and embraced the value of hard work. She was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 6, 2025 at the age of 91.
On November 10,1952 Ms. Snoga married the love of her life, Daniel James McDonald in San Antonio, Texas. Mary met Dan while visiting a friend at a local hospital in San Antonio, where Dan was a patient. Mary saw the world with Dan as he transferred from assignment to assignment while serving in the military. After retirement, Mary and Dan enjoyed sightseeing as they traveled around the United States in their RV.
Mary was a devout Catholic. She was active in and dearly loved her church family. At the passing of her beloved husband Daniel, she volunteered at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Selma, Texas as a Eucharist Minister.
Mary’s pride and joy was her family, where she was preceded in death by Daniel James McDonald; three brothers Alvin Snoga and wife Bernice; Bennie Snoga and wife Patricia; Emil Snoga; and three sisters Sally Skloss and husband Sixtus; Lucy Pechacek and husband O.B.; and Gladys C Snoga. She leaves behind her son, Rodney McDonald and wife Cynthia and Daughter, Belinda Taber and husband Robert. She also leaves a wonderful legacy of four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, who will feel the void she will leave on this earth. Mary is also survived by her brother, Pete Snoga and wife Kathy, of San Antonio, TX as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday April 27, 2025 with a Rosary recited at 6:00 PM at the Schertz Funeral Home located at 2217 FM 3009 Schertz, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Monday April 28, 2025 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma. Graveside services will follow at 1:00 PM at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery Shelter 1.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choosing.
