Mary Lou (Johnson) McCoy passed from this life to take her place in the Kingdom of Our LORD on June 18, 2009 in her home in Garden Ridge, Texas. She was born in Victoria, TX on August 25, 1947 to Mae Mills and Chester R. Johnson. Mary Lou was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and special friend. She lived a life of love with an ever present strong faith in Christ, courage, and a smile that filled whatever space she occupied. In addition to her work roles as a secretary in the business, church and public school environments, Mary Lou had a deep passion for serving and helping others. She volunteered with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, in her home church, and she could always be counted on to do more than her share. Mary Lou grew up in Rockport, TX and graduated from high school there in 1965. She earned her college degree from what is now Texas State University. She married Jim, the love of her life, in 1970. As a Navy family Lou and Jim spent happy years living in various locations in the US and abroad. Back home in Texas, Lou and Jim lived in Austin, Garland, and San Antonio. They also cherished the time they were able to spend fishing on the Texas coast and in their mountain home in Breckenridge, Co.Mary Lou leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 39 years James G. (Jim) McCoy, daughter and son-in-law Carrie Lynn and Mike Bresnahan of Frisco; son Todd Jacob McCoy of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren Benjamin Cole Risner of Mt. Pleasant; Sarah Dorothy Bresnahan of Frisco; sister and brother-in-law Sue and Don Blair of Odessa, brother and sister in law Al and Diane Johnson of Rockport; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Craig and Alice McCoy of Kerrville; mother-in-law Dorothy L. McCoy of Ingram; aunt Helga Harper of Bay City; numerous cousins, nephews and nieces; and a host of good friends and spiritual siblings. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, June 27, at Universal City United Methodist Church, 90 Winn Ave., Universal City, TX. An additional memorial service, officiated by Dr. Tim Walker, will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 11, at New World United Methodist Church in Garland, TX. The family requests that expressions of sympathy and love be in the form of contributions to the Lone Star Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at PO Box 816148, Dallas, TX 75381-6148, the American Cancer Society or charity of choice.
