Mary Bird

To know Becky Bird was to know and experience a special kind of love. Full of life, joy, and happiness, she cared so much about those who were a part of her life. Becky was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Mary Rebecca Bird was born on May 3, 1928 in Mescalero, New Mexico. After having lost both of her parents as a young girl, Becky was raised by her cherished Aunt Cora. Cora cared for her deeply and taught Becky that unconditional love existed beyond her parents, as we have all experienced through her own caring nature. Becky met Robert Lee Bird in 1944, and they were married for 63 years. Becky and Robert had two sons, Theodore Paul Bird, and Robert Lee Bird II. Becky spent a large portion of her life as a beautician and in the beauty industry, which was a perfect fit for her outgoing and creative personality.

In 2000, Becky and Robert moved to San Antonio, Texas to be close to family. She enjoyed spending her time golfing, visiting with friends, cooking, and watching her granddaughters play basketball. Of all of the things she enjoyed, she exemplified her love of life most through dancing.

The love, kindness, and wonderful memories that Becky gave to us all are unmeasurable, and will forever be cherished in our hearts. May God guide us to love others in the way that she so loved us.

Becky was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Bird. Becky is survived by her sons Theodore Paul Bird and wife Cheryl Bird, and Robert Lee Bird II and wife Marilyn Bird; Grandchildren Mandy Bird, Ashley Erin Bird, Mallory Foster Bird Sample and husband Derek Sample; Great-Grandson Dean Robert Sample.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel.
