Mary Grace “Pinky” Recio Allmon, born October 1, 1952, entered into God’s Kingdom on Jan 28, 2020 at the young age of 67. Mary was the 2 nd of 7 children born to WWII Veteran Diego “Tato” Recio and Angelina Gonzales. A San Antonio native, Mary attended St Michael’s Catholic School and graduated from Highlands High School in 1970. In 1970, she met her sweetheart, Aaron D. Allmon and the young couple were married the same year. As a military spouse, Mary was blessed with four beautiful children, and proudly supported her husband while assigned to Chanute AFB, IL; Pope AFB, NC; Luke AFB, AZ; Tyndall AFB, FL; and to their final assignment at Randolph AFB, TX. Mary was a talented artist and was committed to excelling at watercolor painting. Her beautiful paintings of bluebonnets, cacti, historical missions, churches and chickens were gifted with kindness to friends, family and General Officers. Her other hobbies included spoiling her precious grandchildren whom she loved dearly, pampering her precious dogs and caring for her 2 chickens. In the 1980’s Mary’s took interest in collecting and repairing antique dolls which lead to an exquisite collection that is to be admired today. As with world became fascinate with the Nintendo DS, so too was Mary. A few times, as if in disbelieve, Mary told love ones that she was up all night to beat a level in Super Mario. Mary’s love of cooking and fellowship was key to her employment/enjoyment at the Randolph AFB Chapel kitchen. With the assistance of other Chapel volunteers, she providing weekly meals and spiritual support to both military and civilian staff members of the base. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Ret. MSgt Aaron D. Allmon, parents, Diego and Angelina Recio, brother, James D. “Boy” Recio and her In-laws, Glenn and Dorothy Allmon of Springfield, Missouri. Mary is survived by her children, Lisa (Ret. Col., Roy) Roper, Christian Allmon, Ret. SSgt Aaron “Turtle” (Trisha), Allmon, and Samantha (Maj, Chuck) Richardson, her grandchildren, Private 2nd Class Aaron Allmon III, Jack Allmon, Mackenzi Ahlman, Rand Ahlman, Kacie Lynn Allmon, Christian Allmon, Nickolas Allmon, Peter Allmon, Seth Richardson, Isabel Grace Richardson and Gavin Richardson. She is also survived by her sisters, Virginia (Gene) Giles, Angelina “Bibi” Pardo, Diane “Jubilee” Recio, Celestina “Dinky” Carrola, and Geralyn “Evie” (John) Rodriguez, as well as numerous nieces and nephews from San Antonio, Portland, OR and Topeka, KS. Mary is also survived by her maternal Aunts & Uncle, Josephine Gonzales, Luisa Gonzales and Robert (Gloria) Gonzales and many cousins from Houston, TX. The family wishes to thank her many loving friends from the Randolph AFB Chapel (Sadako Grassi, Donna Rodland, Michelle Rabell, Verna Dieterich, Connie Bell and many others), the BAMC Oncology Clinic staff whose care during her Cancer treatment was exceptional, the wonderful nurses and doctors at BAMC Vascular Clinic that took great care of her for the past two years, the Dialysis Treatment Center where she found hope and friendship with other dialysis patients, and Agape Christian Church, Pastor Stuart Perryman and the congregation, where she was welcomed with open arms, love and spiritual healing. The Allmon family also wishes to thank their neighbor and sister-in-Christ, Mrs. Mabel Williams for the 30-plus years of friendship, and sisterly love, provided to their Mother and the Allmon family.
Memorial Service will be held Feb 7, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. at Randolph AFB Chapel One, 2 Washington Circle, Bldg 102, Randolph AFB, TX 78150. A Reception for all guests will be held immediately following in the Chapel Annex. In lieu of flowers, the Allmon family request that memorial donations be sent to Agape Christian Church, 14303 Judson Rd, San Antonio, TX 78233.
