It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mary M. Aguilar, as she was called to our Lord’s side on Jan. 30th, 2025 in Round Rock, Texas.
Mary was a young 97 years old and a beautiful, gracious woman until the end. She was born in Houston, Texas on May 29th, 1927. She lived in south Texas with her parents Aaron, Sr. and Antonia H. Mendoza, until her teenage years when they moved to San Antonio. This is where, while attending Draughon’s Business College, she met her husband, Adolph (Aggie) Aguilar, at a bus stop. They were married for 73 years. Mary and Aggie were the perfect couple. They raised five children, shared hobbies and loved traveling. After Aggie retired from 31 years in the USAF, Mary returned to work. She took the retail world by storm establishing a clientele that included international businessmen, San Antonio Spurs players and their wives. Her impeccable taste was appreciated by all who came to her for fashion advice.
After working a few short years, Mary retired from retail to begin the traveling phase of her life. As a USAF officer’s wife, Mary and her children lived in several different states. Her world-wide traveling began after she and Aggie retired. They went on several trips to Europe, Scandinavia and the Middle East. One of the most memorable journeys was a Sabbatical she and dad made to the Holy Land. On the return trip, the group stopped in Rome and had an audience with Pope John Paul II. This meant so much to both of our parents. She and Aggie loved traveling almost as much as they loved bowling.
Mary loved competing. Whether it was Bunco with her sisters and mother in the back yard or bowling at the Women’s National Bowling Championships in Reno and Las Vegas casinos, Mary gave her all. She often spoke of how much fun they had playing Tripoli with friends. Mary also truly enjoyed watching professional sports. When Aggie gave her season tickets to the Spurs, she was so excited. I don't think she missed one home game. She followed the Spurs, Cowboys, and Carlos Alcaraz, professional tennis player, faithfully. During any of those games, Mary always had control of the remote control.
Mary is predeceased by her parents, Aaron Sr. and Antonia; her siblings, Adelina (Lina), John (Johnny) and Hortense (Tencha); Daughter, Mary Ellen and Granddaughters, Cristal and Ashley.
Mary is survived by her children Mary E. (Betsy); David and his wife Wendy of California, Teresa (Teri) and her husband Jim; and Rebecca C. (Becky). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jeffery, Kirsten, Jimmy, Madeleine and Mitchell; Great-Grandson: Gage, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Choice Home Health as well as Sage Valley Senior Living for making mom feel at home in your community. Although Mary hadn’t lived at Sage for very long, her time there was quality time. It is a comfort to know how happy she was living at Sage Valley. Finally, we would like to thank Dr. Bhakta, his team, and all the staff of the 6th floor (6S and SICU) at Ascension Seton Williamson Hospital for the excellent care they provided mom in her final days.
