San Antonio,
Martha Bell Moore, 88, died peacefully of natural causes July 30, 2017 surrounded by family. Born September 18, 1928 to John and Clara (Dubose) Hinton on the family farm near Bellville, TX, she graduated from Sam Houston High School at 16 to begin a 40-year career with Southwestern Bell Telephone where she began as a Student Operator and retired as a Supervising Engineer. She married Ray W. Gilbert in 1949 (who preceded her in death by six days) with whom she raised two children in a marriage of 23 years. Close to her retirement, she met and later married Billy F. Moore and shared 21 years of happiness until his untimely death in 2003. Together, they travelled the southwest as Family History Consultants for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Martha is remembered for her stunning blue eyes and as a beautiful person inside and out, brightening our lives with her kind and generous spirit and ever-present sense of humor. She loved all things Texas (except horses and beer) and could belt out a good yodel when pressed. An example of Christlike serving, Martha loved the Lord and enjoyed a deep grasp of gospel principles and scriptural knowledge. She is preceded in death by grandson Dylan Ray Gilbert, sister Marie Edwards, and brothers John Hinton and L.T. Hinton. Survivors are her children Judalon (Christopher) Manes, Steve (Cherie) Gilbert; grandchildren Raphael (Katharine) Watson, Jonathan Watson, Muffy Watson, Anna (Addison) Day, Madison Gilbert; great-grandchildren Michael, Sarah and Teddy Watson, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers Martha has requested contributions be made to WoundedWarriorsProject.org. Funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 2:00 p.m., Monday, Aug. 7, 8801 Midcrown Drive San Antonio, TX. Viewing at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be held at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 8. Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
"And now I end with these words of Paul, 1 Cor. 15:58: ‘Therefore my beloved brethren [and sisters] be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.' I am safe! I am home! I love you!"
