Martha Embry

Martha J. Embry (Janie), born on April 1, 1939, in Portsmouth, Ohio, passed away on December 12, 2015, in St. Hedwig, Texas, at the age of 76. Martha was the glue that held her family together. She raised and cared for her 4 children, often times alone, as an Air Force wife. After her children left home she worked as a special needs bus driver as she went to school to become a dental assistant. She left work as a dental assistant to care for and enjoy her grandchildren. She loved and encouraged reading, whether it was a comic or a novel. Martha loved animals of all kinds and always had room in her home for them. She loved and enjoyed music - Vinyl records and Neal Diamond. Bluebonnets were her favorite flower. Martha's hobbies included finding and collecting spoons. She also loved researching and studying genealogy and she took great pride in completing the Fultz family genealogy. She is preceded in death by her husband, Marlin (Marv) Embry; parents, Rance and Ruth Fultz; and brothers, Tom and Hugh Fultz. Martha is survived by her sons, Rob Jenkins and wife Vicki of San Antonio, Texas, Tim Jenkins and wife Carol of Florida; daughters, Lisa Schmidt and husband Eddie of Schertz, and Sharon Gaver and her husband Ron of Florida; and brother, Mathew Fultz and wife Vicki of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren, Mat Jenkins and wife Tori, Jacob Jenkins and wife Apryl, Ryan Stephens and wife Rocio, Melissa and husband Andrew Hatfield, Taylor Schmidt and fiancée Jovan, Peyton Schmidt, Aaron Gaver and wife Melanie, and Katie Gaver; great grandchildren, Berlin Jenkins, Adalie Stephens, Colten Jenkins, Cameron Jenkins, Amelia Stephens, Wyatt Hatfield, Brooklyn Jenkins, and Ava Stephens. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM, at Schertz Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at 9:00 AM, at Schertz Funeral Home, Pastor Joe Walts officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
