Marshall "Ray" Staton, age 62, went to be with the lord surrounded by family on Sunday, June 13, 2021.
Ray was born on September 22, 1958 in Conway, South Carolina to his parents Lawrence and Carolyn Staton. As a child Ray lived all over the United States including California, Colorado, Florida, New Mexico, Virginia and ended in Texas. He permanently resided in Live Oak, Texas. He graduated from MacArthur High School and attended Texas State. Ray served in the United States Army from 1984-1988. He was a jack of all trades but finished out his career in 2008 when he retired as a warehouse manager from Pabst Blue Ribbon.
Ray is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Shaney Proske, sons, Ryan Staton and Dustin Proske; father, Lawrence Staton step mother Carolyn Staton; brothers, Larry Staton wife Vicki Staton, Robert Staton wife Nancy Staton, Ronald Staton wife Keri Staton; sister, Chris Stewart; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother Carolyn Staton; brother in law Daniel Stewart; and grandparents on both sides.
Ray was deeply loved and known for his joyful spirit, kindness and loving attitude towards all. A sentimental man with a heart of gold.
In his free time he enjoyed tending to his yard work and building beautiful pieces of furniture. He had a great passion for all sports and you could always bet he'd be cheering on the San Antonio Spurs. Golfing and bowling were something he especially loved doing. He also enjoyed going on long bike rides with his wife Shaney.
Ray and his siblings have many fond memories in all the places they've lived. One memory that they shared was traveling from California to Virginia in summer in a car with no air conditioning, to visit their grandparents. No stops except when they had to stop for his brother Ronalds mashed potatoes because he was a picky eater.
Ray will be forever loved and eternally missed and never forgotten. Heaven has gained an exceptional angel.
