Marlene L. Neal, age 68, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away at home in Schertz, Texas on Tuesday, July 11, 2023.
Marlene was born on April 21,1955 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late William and Dolores Longacre. She graduated from John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls’ High School in 1973 and grew up in Roxborough, Pennsylvania.
On April 21, 1986, Marlene married Scott J. Neal in a civil ceremony in Dubuque, Iowa and moved to the state of Texas.
After working for several years as a skilled cardiac monitor technician and a compassionate patient advocate, Marlene entered into retirement where she enjoyed karaoke, crocheting, crafting, and relaxing by the pool.
Marlene is survived by her devoted husband Scott; her five children RJ, Dana, Sean, Michelle, and Matthew and their spouses; her ten grandchildren Chris, Angel, Dennis Cole, Emma, Grace, Brianna, Elijah, Sloan, Madeleine, and Neal; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Shannon.
Marlene had a kind heart and a special way of making those she encountered feel valued and special. She celebrated life and actively sought out ways to do and share things with her loved ones. She will be remembered fondly for her thoughtful and festive family gatherings, sensitive and generous heart, skillfully crafted afghan blankets, fun-loving rummy card games, delicious crab dip, and passion for Patsy Cline songs.
Memorial services will be held at Schertz Funeral Home on July 22, 2023 from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Friends and family are welcome to join us in person or to share their condolences online.
